Was chatting to a guy the other day and he recons turtles on the whole will no long be sold in the pet trade, he was very vague, has anyone heard anything like this in any way? or is it aload of rubish

well actually it is illegl to sell turtles as they attain to larger sizes, live in the sea and are endangered.

selling TERRAPINS is absolutely fine lol

haha no i ment the fresh water species, snappers, soft shelled, sliders etc...

yes i know lol, i just thought i would point out that using the word turtle to describe freshwater aquatic chelonia is an american habit which i personally find very annoying if you are not american lol

Actually turtle is used to describe any kind of chelonia in america unless you know reptiles in any kind of way.....

the britsih also use turtle to decribe aquatic chelonia alligator snapping turtle Soft shelled turtle ect ect.

Im not realy into turtles or terrapins, have never realy read up on them much, i have enough books around to do it Laughing
but i always thought terrapin was just a more common name used for sliders?
