This wee guy is my very rarely seen AHS. Just a couple of quick snaps so excuse the quality.

Very nice mate.. I remember them being very easy to get a few years (probably 6 or 7).
Are they still that easy/ or have they become less seen?

James, I agree with you. I think people are put off somewhat because of their 'drab' appearance...but they are fascinating wee snakes.

MJ, there's still a few kicking about but you have to know where to look. I've only ever seen one in a pet shop, so I think most of the trade in them comes from private breeders. And they are relatively sparse.

I love these snakes, but know very little about them. how are they kept?
I think South Coast Exotics near my parents down in Hampshire breeds them. They had hatchlings in last time I went in september.

Tom, they are really easy to care for. I generally follow the care guide on kingsnake...that is substrate temp of 31 at the hot end and 21 at the cool end. Substrate wise...take your pick, I've kept this one on everything going with equal success. One point to remember is that they eat a LOT so make sure it's a substrate that can be easily kept clean. This one is provided with branches to climb on in a 2x2ft cube...but it was kept fine and dandy in a contico for 2 years before that. Then it's just the basic snake husbandry things...fresh water, couple of hides etc.

How big do they grow? presumably they eat suitably sized rodents ? really like snakes that climb, but dont think Im quite experianced enough with snakes (or rich enough!) to go for a 'proper' arboreal yet.
