Just a few pics of some of my Pituophis, for like minded herpers Smile

They are NOT the aggressive snakes they have been labeled as in the past.
In fact ive had cornsnakes that were more aggressive than gophers! Shocked

Hope You like. AL

yep loving the hypos!

Al, any ideas why they are not as widely bred as some of the other colubrids?

Its crazy really i rkn Confused cos i keep these exactly the way i used to keep corns and in the same conditions.. housing, temps etc. Surprised
The variety of colour mutations available is growing and is like what was happening with corns at the beginning

Many reasons spring to mind mate!

Mainly availability and small no. of keepers i guess and maybe the bad press all pituophis got stuck with.
The 1st pituophis we got in the U.K. 'back in the day' were mostly wild caught bulls and pines as you can testify.
These were therefore ill-adjusted,misunderstood and generally unhealthy snakes due to stress.
The pituophis we have now are c/b and therefore worlds apart from when the rep was gained.

All my snakes are totally calm and fine with being handled, maybe the jani are the exception due to the speed they move.

Lovely snakes, also a pituophis fan! Im not as keen on the gophers as the pines and bulls though. Ive kept a normal pair of bulls and a cracking pair of mexican pines and would keep them again any day Cool
