Hello. I am getting a baby vieled chameleon on tuesday. at the moment, i have a 29 gallon aquarium (30 inches long, 12 inches wide, and 19 inches tall) i have Bark Bedding on the ground for substrate and i have vines of different thicknesses around the tank. and lots of hanging plants and plants on ground. i still need to buy a heat lamp and a UVB bulb. I have a bearded dragon, and a leopard gecko, so im not clue-less on reptiles. im just new to the chameleon world. if rickeezee could help me out (as with any others) that would be awsome (Cass sent me, rikeezee)
Thanks a ton! |

Congrats on deciding to get a cham - they are fab
I, personally, would ditch the substrate - I don't use any in my chams vivs as the chances of them ingesting it and bvecoming impacted are too great for me personally. For ease of cleaingn you could maybe use newspaper - not as pretty as bark but much safer
Also, the plants on the ground may not be neccessary (sp) - chams very rarely use the ground of their tanks and prefer to be high up with nice coverage (veileds anyway)
Can you post up pics of your set up too - we love pics |

yes substrate can be ingested by chams when they flick for a cricket etc. Best not to use any. I tend to keep the floor clear so it is easy to clean the vivs out. For babies , I tend to provide cover plants and various thickness of branches etc, but not overcrowd it. This way I can make sure the wee baby chams can find food easily, how old will your cham be when you get it? _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk
