Hiya
Just making a few adjustments to the viv and wanted to see if anyone could advice me on a few bits.
I have a 35(l)x15(w)x18(h) viv with a strip UV bulb running across the top. The bulb I have in there at the moment is a Exo-Terra Repti-Glo 8.0 UVB that is 20W. Does anyone think this might be too far away from Rankins?
At one end I have a light fitting that says it can take a maximum 40W R50 reflector bulb. I have read that the reflector bulbs aren't great for Rankins and wondered whether anyone had any advice on what bulb I could put in?
Thanks |

hi,
for UV to have any effect you need to allow the lizards to being able to get with a few inches from the tube. I actually lay my tubes almost on the ground, the lizards can lay right against them.
Also I use spot bulbs for basking heat, again the lizards can get quite close. This link shows my monitor lizard set up but my rankins & beardeds were kept similar. http://www.captivebred.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=512&highlight=basking+stacks _________________
