Hi Folks,
Not a great pic but thought the way we did the lighting might be of interest as there's been a couple of posts recently re set-ups. This is something Jerry made up the lights and reflectors are suspended from 'butchers hooks' like the one's saucepans hang from in magazine kitchens.
Night light on the left (as you see the pic) sun glow on the right, during summer we use the blue moonlight lamps but 'upgrade' to infrared in the winter. The UV 8 strip has a reflector behind it - it runs the width of the flexi.
The flexi is also right above a radiator and next to the sunniest window in the room so Bud enjoys a warm sunny aspect all year round. If we ever want to enclose the flexi a bit more we use those grip pegs you see on toll stools at car shows etc - they're big pegs that fit on gazebo poles to hang 'sides' on. But due to the position of the flexi we rarely need to do this as it stays warm and wet due to 4x a day misting and drip water onto the plants. |

Yukka, Ficus, Rubber Plant and Umbrella plant (although the hoppers have eaten that). The ficus is a beaut and only £4.99 from Tesco - much cheaper than the garden centres, I got an umbrella plant for same price a few months back so it's worth keeping a look out if you have a big Tesco near you.
We use the hanging bark for Buds treat pot (waxies etc) and salad cress for the feed critters, if Buds hungry she sits and stares at the pot in the bark! |
