thats a real great start I have a couple of questions hehe
#1) what substrate did you use?
#2) did you use a drainage layer?
#3) what kind of lighting are you using?
and a suggestion... get some Oak leafs in there for a bit of cover for them, you will find with the extra security the toads will be ALOT bolder and you will see them more. _________________ Paul

yes there is hydrolica layer at the bottom but hid it, used composted bark chips mixed with soil, the lighting is a 32inch uvb fluorescent tube there is also a very low watt natural sunlight bulb and a blue bulb for a couple of hours night viewing, its not quite finished yet haven't been able to get any leaf litter yet but its on the list. thanks for the tip though as I'm a newbie the odd tip or 2 |

Looking good , well done.
Now`s the time of year to get your fallen oak leaves, and well worth the extra effort. Nuke them in the microwave for 2 mins. It`s true about the animals using them as shelter, and it definately makes them feel more secure and hence on show more. _________________ YSBRYDOLI POBL, GWELLA LLEOEDD

from what I'm told i think most toads would be OK in the tank its 4 foot long 18inch high 15deep, the water level can be adjusted quite easily, in the corner there is a waterfall more of a drizzle the water leaves the tank through a drainage hole into a 20 litre tank where its filtered and Even heated if necessary,it comes back in very slowly over the large pebbles in the corner so there is no flow to bother the toads, I've given quite a deep substrate so they can burrow if they want, these are going to be my first toads think they are arriving this week fingers crossed. |
