Hi all.
took female panther, to the vets this evening, ( she gave her a good old nip ha ha, she sure is a feisty little thing ). she couldnt feel any eggs.she has been drinking ok,but hasnt eaten anything for a week now. vet gave her some critical care 0.5mls. to be given 2 times a day.she also booked me a return appointment for thursday evening. do you think it will be worth a revisit so soon?has anybody heard of force feeding chams?i think the stress could be too much.the vets bill was £27 + vat. is this alot?it was more than i was expecting, i will also have to pay for return visit.any thoughts/comments welcomed. |

Hi all.
good news, female panther is on the mend. i took her back to the vets on tuesday 24.10.06. i had been feeding her critical care, 0.5mls twice a day (early morning & late evening) orally, with a syringe, for one week & offering her food daily, although she never ate on her own,i also force fed her 2 waxworms & 2 small crickets.i told the vet that the critical care didn't seem to be helping. the vet prescribed antibiotics 0.5mls (flagyl) and some type of dog food, which i mixed up with critical care and froze into ice cube tray. antibiotics once a day & food 0.5mls every other day. after a week she has fed every day on her own. i am surprised, but really pleased, as i really didn't think she was going to make it.

Thanks Rick, she fed again this morning, 5 large banded crickets ( both my panthers show a real preference for these, as opposed to silent crickets). i thought that with all the handling, that she might have mellowed, but she is more stroppy than ever, though i'm not complaining as i'm just glad she seems ok.
