Hi guys,
I just started the first of 8 terrariums for some of my new Dendrobates pumilio.
I prefer hight and depth over width for my pumilios so went for 24x15x12 (LxHxW) and turned them on end for a high and deep terraium.
I spent the last 5 years in the US so have adopted a few of the methods I used over there.
Here's a few pictures of how I did the background.
I still need to do the sides and I'm waiting on the fronts but I have 7 more to make and a unit to build lol the final size of the rack should be 6' high 4' wide and 2' deep. _________________ Paul

Great progress Paul.
Are you going to cover the sides also? What are you using to fix it with, not the silicone method _________________ YSBRYDOLI POBL, GWELLA LLEOEDD

LOL Peter! me? use the silicone method? PALEASE !
No sir I mix cana coco with concrete primer and water in 2:1:1 ratio with some variation a little more cana coco a little more primer ect.
The silicome method does work OK but it's messy and getting a good coverage is hard... this stuff you mix it up and then just push it on! it's alot easier and cleaner. drying time is longer tho and it takes a good few days for it to harden like rock...
The sides will be covered I am just waiting on some info from the guy making my doors so I know how much to leave.
for the sides I wont use expanding foam I am going to use polystyrene tiles again coverd in the mix as the back was..
I am gonna also make some "roots" ect and add those then of coarse PLANTS lots and lots of PLANTS I like PLANTS can you tell? _________________ Paul

You love the silicone.
Sounds a whole lot easier certainly Paul. My little head always worries about the possability of released toxins. Obviously not a problem though. Is this standard USA dart terrarium practice then?
Can you bring a bag of that primer or a contact addie with you to Chris`s? I want to pick your brains. _________________ YSBRYDOLI POBL, GWELLA LLEOEDD

Well the silicone is actually the "American standard" lol but I did this after seeing the Germans use a simuler product call flevopal, and never went back to silicone. Toxins arent a worry wth this because it's basically a PVA type thing.
Are you staying over @ Chris's place? I'll be there all weekend (the man is a gluten for punishment )
I'll go over it with ya there. _________________ Paul

Peter, Concrete primer is available from builders merchants, it is used to seal concrete before painting etc. some are epoxy based some are PVA based both will do the same job. _________________ Andrew Tillson-Willis
