Hey all,

Just thought i'd point these out and give a quick review! They're marketed as Aquarium lights, but i've found them ideal for illuminating my vivs at night.

I have some Chinese Cave Geckos (G.luii) who are incredibly shy, and won't come out in the light at all - hence I never really saw them! As they aren't particularly tolerant of high temperatures either, I was reluctant to use an infra-red bulb in case it increased the temps too much.

However, I just bought a couple of the red LED micro lights, and they do the job perfectly. Quite bright, and as they are a red they don't seem to bother the geckos in the slightest. The best part is that the lights themselves have suckers on the back, so they can be easily positioned on the glass inside or outside the viv, and they aren't intrusive at all.

I'm planning on rigging these up on my crestie vivs too, especially as over summer i'd rather not be producing any extra heat! They produce a lot of light for such a tiny bulb, and such a tiny amount of heat they seem ideal for reptiles who prefer it cooler.

I guess they would also be good for nocturnal amphibs, as they can be used underwater.

They aren't expensive either - about a tenner for the hub (sits outside the viv) which you can then connect 3 separate lights to, and the lights are only a fiver each.

Just thought i'd share, as i'm dead chuffed with these! Very Happy I can now watch my beautiful geckos go about their nightly business without worrying about roasting them every time I want to watch them Rolling Eyes Wink

Yep, no probs Smile

I got the hub from Pets at Home, but they don't do the red lights - so I got the first red light from Jollyes (the only one they had left Rolling Eyes ) and I bought the other two reds from Maidenhead Aquatics.

A couple of links:

And a (not particularly good) photo of the lights in one of my vivs:

(ETA: Can you see Mr. Goni on the left hand side? Wink )

They work really well rick, and i like the fact you can dim them, i just drilled small holes along the top of the viv and poked them through they just give a lovely moonlight glow.
