hi
lots of debate on this.
Upto 2kgs some say a large contico, I prefer the 50ltr really useful boxes. Gives an extra 4 inches by 12 inches floor space, plus a little extra height which is useful.
A lot of people use these boxes very happily in racks. I have an home made melamine wood rack with a mixture of conticos and really usefull boxes.
You can keep them in wood or glass so long as it is escape proof and can be heated safely. One thing to consider with wood is that it can absorb humidity. royals need good humidity(but dry floor) to thrive.
I recently purchaes a dvd by david and tracy barker about royal pythons. It came as a shock how big they can eventually get. For big breeders they use larger boxes, much larger. you could check out Komplement boxes on ikea.co.uk. also have a look at racks on this forum. Scott has a rack which uses the komplement boxes. They are a excellent size for large royals. About 33 inches by 18 inches floor space, but must be in some type of rack. I am in the thought process of building a rack for the komplement boxes
hope helps, probably the best thing you could do is buy the

A lot of people on this forum including myself would probably find it difficult to go back to a traditional viv.
Mine a thriving in plastic boxes and are in the process of breeding.

have a look at www.winracks.com
