I am currently dusting my baby veileds food everyday with a mix of 3 pure calcium / 1 part Nutrobal calcium and vits.
But ive been reading as much as I can about this topic and found so much conflicting advice. Alot of people seem to say giving them too much suppliment is just as dangerous as none at all.
So what do most people give their younger veiled chams? And what do you give them as adults? |

I supplement my baby Yemens as follows: Calypso pure calcium x3 per week, Nutrabol alternating with Repton multivitamins and minerals x1 per week.
As they grow I ease back on the calcium to x1 per week when adult, the multivitmains and minerals I leave at x1 per week all their lives.
My own personal view is that a good varied diet and correct insect gut loading is the best way to achieve good health for the chameleon.
I increase calcium supplementation for females that are gravid, pre and post egg laying. To ensure that the female is able to maintain a good calcium level as egg production uses up a lot of calcium. Correct temps and UV also aid in calcium uptake and assimilation.
If a cham is unwell a different supplementation regime may be required.
As you have stated you may well come across conflicting advice, the above is waht I do and other folk will have a variance of views, thus far the above method has worked well for me. More research however needs to be done regarding supplementation of herps. Also there are a bewildering array of products on the market to provided your herp with everything it needs some things that the herp probably never even knew it needed!
Good varied diet and sensible use of supplements is my ideal. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk
