Just after some reassurance really, since the first winter season Ive owned my rankins dragon through.
He is about a year old now, and seems perfectly healthy. Since I brought him (and got him over his hunger strike he decided to have for a few weeks when I got him) he has been eating a decent amount regularly. But since about 2 - 3 weeks ago his eating has been slowing down, so have his activity levels. I replaced his UV tube (repti-glo 8.0) about a month ago also since his old tube had reached 6 months old.
Is he just going into brumation? The slowing down in eating I though could be because of the age he was reaching and the fact hes not growing so much anymore. But that doesnt explain the drop is activity level.
Anything I should do / be worried about?
Thanks |

I tend to let my night time temps drop quite a bit in the winter, basically NO additional heat other than the room. First thing in the morning the substrate does feel quite cold. The lizards still feed etc but just take longer to wake up and become active, and also eat less. _________________

My oldest female Rankin is doing more or less the same at the moment. She has been like this for the last month. Not particularly worried though as my male was doing the same only 2 months earlier.
They seem to be finicky little buggers when it comes to food, and will quite happily go on hunger strike for a few weeks and then snap up everything that moves as if there was never a problem. |

...damn, managed to hit the submit key before I'd finished !!!
It could be brumation, but then again your dragon might just be trying to wind you up and be difficult !!! |
