I know they're not common in captivity but does anyone keep/breed them?

I'm interested in getting a group of Pygmy monitors (what little space I have left is tight) Also, does anyone have any other ideas for small monitors? Not Ackies, got one and am happy to keep him alone, looking for an even smaller monitor.

Maybe try kingorum they are readily available in Europe, off the top of my head can't think of anyone with brevicauda though in Europe but I'm sure there here.

Thanks for the idea but Kingorum (like Storr's) just don't float my boat.

Anyone have any ideas as to how I'd go about finding a V.brevicauda breeder in Europe other than the net? Or is it at a point now were all "specialist" exotic breeder's are on-line?

Also I know a few of you import. How do you go about this?

Just had a look about and it seems from what I've read, if I were to drive to a breeder in main land Europe and collect them myself I could drive back with no paper work?

Would the same be true if I were to fly? Could I take them on as hand luggage?

Both Gilleni and Caudolineatus sound good, fitting into my minimal space requirements (Approx 48x12x18)

Gilleni (mulga, I assume that's what your referring to Rickeezee? Unless its one of those cross naming situations like Spiny-tailed Monitors referring to both Ackies and Storrs by some) is the more "common" of the two is it not? So what am I likely to pay, as a fair price for a pair/trio of any of the above (including V.brevicauda, I can live in hope!)

Hi, I have a male Varanus Gilleni for sale, he was part of a pair but female died of egg-binding.

Haven't had chance to get to Germany and pair him up but if you are willing to then I would sell him to you.

Caudolineatus and Gilleni are about as rare as each other on the continent and go for about 1200 euros each.

I will sell you the male for £700 including his setup.

Very interesting little fella and has semi-prehensile tail. Don't think you will get Brevicauda, don't know anyone abroad who has them either.
