You've hit the nail right on the head above IMHO. Yes spot on Jonathon, I am sure you will have every success with the 15 month old from BZ. I would be very interested in talking to them regarding their Mellors to compare notes.

With the correct set up I don't see any major issues with keeping a mellor or a pair etc., The most important aspect is their source and WC or even dubiously labelled CF are a big no no in my view, for the reasons that you have stated.

Thank you for your kind words Jonathon that is appreciated. I have not responded yet to your latest pm but will do by the end of the day. Not had the time yet to go into detail, but I will do, thanks.

No worries Rick, just my observations following extensive reading around the species and their care. I have already emailed my contact at BZ as he'll be fascinated to hear about your successful breeding / incubation of the species due to the lack of such success stories in the UK! Very Happy

Jonathan

lmao Jonathon - with my recent spending habits, I doubt my hubby would push the boat as far as to me getting Mellors as well lol

I will do my best persuasion tactics though to try and get at least a pretty lkittle male lmao Wink

Embarassed Thank you both.

There are enough to go round Laughing

Without sounding mushy or whatever, I just feel honoured to be part of the mellors lives as I do with all the herps. I don't own them but just share in their lives and am privileged to be able to do this. Right mush time over with.

Good luck with sexing them then!! Not the easiest job in the world and no mistake! Shocked Unless Rick is also a genius as well as a top cham breeder? Actually, I guess that is very likely. One more place up I go! Wink

Mush away Rick, it's nice to hear someone else with this attitude to the hobby.

Thanks for emailing BZ Jonathon, appreciated.

Yes sexing them is a tad difficult, there are various urban legends doing the rounds as to how you can sex them at a young age but more research needs to be done. Will be good to chat to BZ about this. occipital lobes may be the way forward as in size of!

Luckily I had a spare extra large new style exo terra terrarium and spare UV tubes heat lamps, and stats etc so the mellors are set up in their new baby home now. Have been watching them catch large fruit flies great sport! Have fly proofed the exo so the flies do not escape.

There are now 64 of them hatched and still a few more to go Laughing
