I've noticed one of my V. albigularis pairs have been together the last couple of days in the same posture. I believe they may be copulating, but I have not seen any penetration. I don't think its a form of dominance, but I could be wrong. I would absolutely love to get eggs, but I'm not going to get excited. Just hope for the best and see what happens. Enjoy!
Cheers,
Adrian _________________ www.albigularis.com |

Hi all,
This is my first post here.
Shadow
I think you will find that what you are witnessing is a sort of pair bonding. My pair of V. albigularis spent about a year cuddling up to each other before they started mating for real.
If your in the UK mid October onwards seems to be their mating season. Eggs are laid early January and hatch six months later in June.
My pair are just starting to mate again now, so I'll try and get some pics and post up.
Has anyone heard of anyone else breeding V. albigularis in the UK as I am trying to put together a fact sheet on breeding them and I would love to compare notes.

Awesome photographs Adrian!
As far as i know, so far nothing came up of the 'cuddling'. In less he didn't tell me hahaha.
Gordon... I am interested in seeing your pair of albigularis, and talking to you further... always love talking to other albigularis keepers, esp ones that bred/trying to breed them.
Cheers,

Hi Gordon,
It seems to have resulted in nothing. They still have been spending a significant amount of time with each other, which I still find odd. You should check out my site. It is dedicated solely to the V. albigularis species, and any information that you could contribute would be wonderful. _________________ www.albigularis.com |
