Hi all

Can't believe I've not been using this forum all summer long, have only just found it and am gutted as it is SO good... Wink

I'm Jonathan, I used to maintain a large reptile collection but had to sell everything when I moved house four years ago, since then have had a baby (well ok my wife has) so haven't been able to afford any animals!

I'm currently in the process (nearly there) of setting up my own small business offering educational wildlife roadshows linked to the primary science curriculum for primary schools and preschools, having been a primary teacher until the end of last school year.

As a result I've spent the summer building up a big collection of inverts and reptiles for the business and for my own enjoyment of them too, as I've so missed having them around the last few years! I've been active on BugNation, which is a superb invert forum for those of you with an interest in all things invertebrate who haven't yet found it, and it is via Peter Parrot who also uses BN that I have discovered you guys today, so a big thanks to Peter!! Very Happy

Reptiles-wise I currently keep crested geckos, leopard geckos, Sinaloan milk snakes (an adult pair and one of their offspring from this summer) and corn snakes, and am soon to be receiving some P. m. grandis and P. laticauda day geckos and a sub-adult Meller's chameleon which I'm very excited about!! I also have a sole representative of the amphibian world currently, a gorgeous green morph C. cranwelli horned frog, s/he is lovely!

In terms of snakes I'd like to keep a whole host of kings and milks again like I did in the past as these are my favourite groups, and I've been looking for speckled kings all summer long as these are my absolute favourite species, but have been very unsuccessful so far. If anyone has them I'd be well chuffed to hear from you!

In lizard terms I'm obviously looking forward to receiving my Meller's chameleon and Phelsuma species and in the future will be looking to keep (amongst other things) Uromastyx (acanthinurus group), more crested geckos (as I can't get enough of them just now, if only I could afford more!), other chameleon species and one day I'd love to think I'd be able to keep shingleback (or stump-tailed) skinks, we shall see...

I also have a huge invert collection but I guess you won't be too interested in them on this forum! If anyone wants to know I'll gladly let you know though!

I'll look forward to posting and hearing from anyone who keeps speckleds in particular.

Sorry to have gone on a bit, it's my style as anyone on BN will tell you...

Jonathan

Thanks Scott

Funnily enough I've just emailed you, I'm the bloke who wished he'd bought that purplish-tinged male crested gecko from you at the Essex show and then came back to find you'd sold him and all the rest too!! Perhaps you might remember?? Was kicking myself all afternoon. I was a fool! Embarassed

Glad you made it here Jonathan Cool

Yes great idea for a business that brings with it the responsability of being an ambassador for a still very widely misunderstood group of animals. Good luck with it. Wink

There are a fair few of us on this forum with an interest in inverts also and they have their own section so dont be shy! Smile

Thanks Pete and once again for introducing the forum to me, you should be on commission!

Hadn't even noticed the invert section yet, sorry Embarassed , been too busy trawling through reading hundreds of lizard and snake threads. There are loads of great members here!

Looking forward to seeing your posts and pictures of your collection. Smile

Scott has set a trend here of sharing information and experiences rather than just quoting literature and sticking to the hard and fast black and white rules of herpetology, information about which we all know is constantly being updated and improved.

That is the main feature that I feel sets this forum apart from a lot of others as well as the notion of a "community" pooling information and experiences to hopefully help improve everyone`s knowledge.

There are some great members here and quite a few experts in their fields too.
