Beardeds are great too, they do eat a lot of food but will take spring greens and other veg. The bearded is more robust for handling etc.
Taking everything into account, and you being happy with feeding live insects, I would go for the bearded. |

Next question, sorry about this but I'm new to reptiles as you can probably see and this may seem a silly question but is their a recommended type of vivariums, heating equipment etc for bearded dragons.
One of the books I have been reading says that lizards should be kept on their own and not to purchase them from places were there is more than one in a tank as this causes stress. However, it would appear that in the shops I have been into there is usally 3 or more.
Thanks for your help. |

bearded dragons are fine together, although it's always best to keep the same size animals together.
A cage 4ft by 2ft would be good for 2 or 3 animals.
Heating should be provided by a basking site, a spot light positioned at one end of the viv, this should be on a dimming thermostat (habistat is a good one). Then you need a UV light, this should be mounted approx 10cm from the floor. |
