Long time since my last post, as some of you know i had a sick gecko that we rescued from a shop and he passed, i also just bought 2 more giants one from J Swords (awsome gecko's), and another giant from B J Herp supplies.
I had a long chat with a guy from B J Herp about leo's etc and he mentioned Crypto, from what i can gather it is on th eincrease in the pet trade maybe why we see more and more people with sick leo's.
I have also been informed that it is very hard to detect, fecals can e done but a specialist vet is needed.
Just for my own peace of mind i would like to have fecals on all my stock (as again i have been told Crypto can't be cured and can be highly contagious).
So my next question is any idea on a very reputable vet where i could get fecals done for this?
I now have 23 geckos of varying morphs and ages. And basically would like to rule out crypto within my colonies as i won't be purchasing any more for a whilst.
Maybe i am overworrying about this but it sounds really serious and wouldn't like to have anything happen to my pets.
Thanks in Advance for any info or vets details. |

I think personally people are focusing a little too much on crypto..
Whenever I see a sick leo post these days there's usually a mention of crypto within the first two or three posts, and usually people panic with babies because they can see their liver!
Yes it's good to be prepared and know the symptoms, but there are a multitude of other things that can cause illness, and if you have good quarantine and hygiene procedures then testing for crypto in a healthy collection seems a bit OTT. |
