What supplements , if any should I be giving my snake ? it is feeding on fuzzys at the moment, nearly ready for small mice,
but is this enough. Can a diet of mice alone provide everything ?
Any advice welcome . |

The snake is a young Royal python, but I was wondering if all species of rodent/chick eaters need supplements ? |

if you carry on feeding it good quality rodents then it won't need any supplements, I would keep away from chicks as personally I don't think they contain much 'goodness' for long term reptile food. _________________

the simple guide to use is the prey item should be no bigger that the snakes thickest point
Although saying that snakes overall aren't stupid and will reject something that is far too big. If it does manage to swallow something that is too big it will normally regurgitate it partly digested (which stinks!!). A large prey item can sometimes kill a snake if it 'rots' in the stomach before the snake has chance to digest or for some reason doesn't regurge it.
Keep an eye on your basking temps, if it's too cool the snake won't be able to digest and if it's too hot it may 'bloat' the prey item or the snake may not want to bask if it's really hot. _________________

Chicks are very high in cholesterol, apparently. Another reason not to feed them often, if at all. _________________
