Just got back from a great trip to Daytona, Florida. It's billed as the largest Reptile Show in the WORLD!!! (it's not...Hamm is Wink )

Even though it's not the biggest, you can only be impressed...the venue is superb, the location is terrific (100 metres from the beach!) and the organisation is great for visitors (very little queing).

The show itself is a two day event, opens at 10am and closes at 5pm both days, $10 entrance for the two days. You only que up on the first day, then keep you ticket and just walk straight in after.

The variety of reptiles isn't great but they do have something for everyone. From Giant Aldabara tortoises to poison arrow frogs. The bulk of the reptiles for sale are ball python morphs, boa morphs and leopard geckos.

Prices, these vary with some being very cheap but others being 2 to 3 times UK prices (remember...you need to also add VAT & shipping charges to anything you buy! - some bargains don't end up as bargains at all by the time they arrive in the UK Sad ).

The whole Daytona show experinance is spread over 3 days, the Friday night has a selection of seminars, this year there was a choice of a turtle evening or a ball python evening.

The ball python seminar consisted of a talk on breeding, followed by a talk on why to invest in ball pythons, ending with a QA with the biggest names in the ball python business.

The first part of the talk was interupted a few times by a little 'incident' involving some big names in the ball python world and a certain 'big gunn' Laughing , no blood was shed but someone was ejected from the Hilton hotel Laughing

The Saturday evening is always an auction night, raising money for a choosen reptile charity, this year was Project Heloderma, a charity to try and save the Guatamalan Beaded Lizard. The auctioneer was Tattoo Pete, certainly the biggest charactor at the Daytona show and a great host.

The whole event is set at the Hilton hotel on Daytona beach, with the show being 50 metres from the hotel.

Photos to follow.

Sounds like good fun to me! Hotels near beaches, herp shows, getting booted out of hotels, all brings back fond memories of Havant Laughing

Not quite in the same league though!
