I keep them and used to breed them. I only have one female left now which I bred.
Viper geckos are relatively easy to keep providing you have the correct set-up. Their needs are similar to those of Leopard geckos. However, I wouldn't recommend them for beginners as they are very small and thus can be somewhat delicate.
Here's a photo of the set-up for my adult:
I keep my adult on paper towel (kitchen roll). There is a heat mat at one end of the viv (which is connected to a thermostat) - the temperature at this end is around 90-92oF. The photo is quite old - I no longer have a lamp on her as I found it got too hot (the rest of the set up is the same).
In the viv is:
- a moist hide (small margarine tub filled with moist sphagnum moss) to help shedding.
- a water dish which has a pebble in it for them to get in and out of it. (In the photo it is a large saucer but I've now changed it to a smaller one).
- a milk carton lid filled with calcium carbonate.
I also lightly spray one corner of the viv about once a week.
If you need anymore help, feel free to ask away.
When I bred them I also provided a plant pot saucer filled with sand for the female to lay her eggs in. This had a piece of cark bark over it to give her security when laying.
