Hi guys/girls,

We have been very open and relaxed about people posting links up to their own sites and forums etc but have found that a few people register and ONLY promote their own interests and add no value to the forum overall.

Obviously it costs a fair amount to run & host this forum, so what with CaptiveBred paying for this AND the FREE classifieds, it was suggested that we tighten up a little on people using the forums purely for their own gain.

We were thinking something along the lines of;

No posting of any links to personal websites or forums unless your post count is OVER 50 posts (therefore you are a Contributing Member).

Links to personal websites & other forums MAY ONLY be posted in reply to questions on threads started by other members (if you have not yet achieved the Contributing Member Status).

All current links shall remain, new rules to be inforced as from 1 July 06

So what do you all think?

Also I would like to point out that the introduction of these new rules aren't because of any one member posting links etc more so to clarify the situation for the future Wink

Sounds more than fair. It`s the type of rule that is expected to have to be introduced with the growth in size of the forum recently.

As for people advertising their forums on the free classifieds, I'm OK about that so long as they are happy for me to put links up on their forums BACK to the free classifieds, after all the more people who know, look & use the classifieds, the better for EVERYONE.

I think a formal figure for posting restrictions is a very good idea, couldn't have thought of better myself Cool

On the classifieds front, whats the score with that? Aren't/weren't you have them revamped? I would make any changes to rules on there to coincide with the new layout.

Dan, I just haven't had time to sort the classifieds out yet, my REAL job is pretty flat out at the moment so a few things are having to be put on hold (so anyone waiting for replies on PM or Email...sorry...will try to asap).

Thats the point Scott, forums are meant to be comunity areas where we all share and constantly try to improve the facilities - while some others may fail in this area it is certainly something this forums thrives and is known for.

I am quite sure if you were to need help any number of the members would offer support at the drop of the hat, like most forums. The difference here is the majority would back it up with action.

This forum is a TRUE internet community.
