i have a baby bosc, about 6 inch long, eats like a horse and have no worries about him at all just a little concern about the amount of time he will spend in his water bowl, he always seems to be in it and a lot of the time he sleeps in it. Have i any need for concern |

It could mean his enclosure is too dry or hot.
Does he spend a lot of time at the cool end?

when he isnt in his water, which is obviously on the cool side, i wouldn't really say he stays on the cooler side or the hot side, every time i looked he has probably moved. He has just shed about 2 weeks ago but not sure if he could be getting ready again, he does eat like a pig. As for mites how do i go about checking for them, are the easy to see and what colour shape etc will they be |

You will have too look very closely for them as they just look like little black dots!..check around his eyes and also check in the water bowl as if he is soaking because of mites you will see dead ones in the water.. _________________

i will have a good look at him later, but with you saying they would be in the water i can almost say for sure that he hasn't got them as i would of defiantly seen them because of the way i wash and re-fill his bowl |

My bosc is in and out of his water all the time - takes a swim then either basks or craps. Check him over a piece of white paper you will notice tiny black 'pinheads' falling onto the paper if you look close. If there aren't any your in the clear, if some are present on the toher hand post up again and i'll help you out. _________________ Just a collector/lover for now |

Monitors do not make a good host for mites - I had a feeling you'd be fine _________________ Just a collector/lover for now |
