Thanks guys! I cant really come up with any breeding "tips" to be honest, I do make sure though that the back corners of the tanks have at least 4 inches of substrate for egg laying, the holes these girls dig have to be seen to be beleived. The eggs when laid are identical to tic-tac mints, also the girls can be quite secretive where they have laid so most of my clutches are marked with the date I found the eggs and not the actual laying date. Clutches seem to vary between 3 and 5 and Im sure more than one female uses the same site as I have dug up eggs of different sizes before now.
Incubation is a doddle, just the usual vermiculite/pearlite, no need for an incubator room temp is fine- better err on the colder than the warmer, hatching anywhere between 74 and 80 days. As we speak , a little head has appeared from an egg- why are they born upside down??
Pre hatching I sowed some tough grass seeds into the smallest play-pal type tanks- the real mini ones, the grass is now 3 inches high and strong enough to support the babies, it holds tiny droplets of water and the foods climb up it right to where the baby is. By placing the toe of a pair of tights over the lid it keeps the food in so I have no escapees.Thats about all there is to it to be honest. Thanks again for your nice comments, love Jan |

Sounds fascinating. What set ups are the adults in Jan? What degree of humidity do they like? Do they eat fruit flies as I have millions of the things for my dart frogs. _________________ YSBRYDOLI POBL, GWELLA LLEOEDD

Hi Peter, The adults will take large FF- BUT in all honesty I think its just their natural reaction to strike at food more than an actual liking for them. My adults are taking size 2/3 brown crix- although I am searching for a viable alternative, small Phoenix and silk worms, they wont even look at mealies, baby stick insects, confused flour beetle larva, small waxies, small woodlice and anything else smallish and non toxic. I have enclosed a photo of one of my set ups, the humidity- which is taken care of by hand sparaying at least twice a day is around 80%,
