A couple of pics from my PhD fieldwork yesterday
A very photogenic male smooth snake and a slightly shy male sand lizard.
I should point out that I am fully licenced by Natural England to work with these species - and am fortunate that it is a daily occurence between April and October on a daily basis |

I'm doing my PhD at the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology looking at how the fragmentation of lowland heathland has affected aspects of the ecology (reproduction, growth etc) and genetic diversity of smooth snake populations
just over half way - another 18months to go!
cheers,
