my mate has just been given a 15yr old spur thighed tortoise off an old dear that cant look after it any more. Its about 9 inch top of shell to bottom and in really good health. Said he has got a resin tortoise that it keeps trying to mate with so i would presume it would be a male. Just wanted to know how much you think he should advertise it for

To be honest I would be more worried about finding a quality knowledgable home for it rather than seeing how much money he can make from it.

thats the main reason he wants to know what its worth, if he puts it up for sale really cheap then there is a good chance some wheeler dealer will snap it up with the idea of making a profit. If he advertises it for what it is worth he is only going to get inquiries from genuine people

Totally agree with Stuart, i know many tortoise breeders that throw their tortoise eggs away because it is so hard to find a good home for a tortoise. If i were you i would advertise him for £150 to experienced homes only and ask what the new owners would feed him on, housing, would he be mixed with any other tortoises. If you want help finding a new home advertise on http://www.shelledwarriors.co.uk and i will help you find a good home.
