I think you should put a disclaimer in your signature!
I think it is dirt. In America (lol - I know ) it is meant to be the best and most natural monitor substrate.

Thanks for the kind works everyone!
Yes the substrate is dirt, well a mixture of soil and sand. I use it with all of my monitors (higher % sand with the Ackies) Its cheap, holds humidity well and all of my monitors have burrows and dig in it all the time.
I don't have many pics of the vivs but here are a few of the ackies 4x2x2.
Munch in her 6x2.5x2.5 (the lights are now mounted outside)

It makes sense to me, they live on it in the wild so why not in captivity

My thoughts exactly! I try to use as much and as many natural items in my enclosures as i can, rocks, branches, dirt etc........
