Without going into great depth and lengthy arguments about the wrongs and rights of lighting cycles and UV i would like to know if there is a general rule of thumb regarding UV lighting in monitors.

I do have some species that i would like to look into for no other reason than these are the ones i like, I am basically looking for info on the requirement of UV and whether it be in the form of a mercury bulb or a tube.

Varanus Indicus
Varanus Albigularis
Varanus Acanthurus
Varanus Auffenbergi
Varanus Glauerti
