Has anyone ever tried feeding their chameleons on maggots, white maggots from a fishing tackle shop? Can anyone think of any possible problems with this?
cheers. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

Ha ha !
Well me frogs n newts seem to like them. The chams like them in fly form. So I shall give it a go! if anyone knows the approximate protein ratio of a maggot please tell me. I will also ask on the feeder forum. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

I've never bothered feeding maggots, but undyed ones would be ok, I'd be tempted to let them feast on some food first before you feed them to your chams.
I used to feed flies to my bearded dragons alot, just for fun and exercise, they could easily catch them as they flew past. _________________

Yeah, I have gut loaded them with oat bran mixed up with other goodies.
I only use whites. My chams love them when their flies! _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

Apparently the coloured maggots used to be treated with a carcinogenic dye, now vegetable dye is just used. I would still just use whites though. The maggots are usually just fed on maize or some bran type food. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk
