After deciding against getting croc monitors I've been looking at Var anus Indicts, seem a very managable size, easy to work around and a 8 x 4 x 4 seems to be more than enough room.
My question is, is the above correct or not, in the setup i am leaning towards a power sun is this a necessary piece on equipment to have in the cage, what sort of temps are we looking at and temperament wise what are they like, i do not plan on molly coddling this animal just would prefer something easy to work with.
Thanks for your time

I'm sure a friend used an 8 x4 x4 and bred them yearly without problems. _________________

I would have thought it would be fine Tom..I used to keep a youngster and they are beautiful monitors but very nervous and skitty..well mine was.I also found it loved to climb so had a fair few branches in with mine that it used regularly..also a large pool of water will be appreciated.I used to have a powersun heating mine and it seemed to thrive. _________________

Thank you Scott much appreciated. I think i will settle with the 8 x 4 x 4.
Thanks as well Stu, i have been intrigued since i sore them at mark ameys place, i now have the opportunity of obtaining a grown on 12" animal so i think i will embark on that. I am going to use a 160w power sun with a 250w ceramic on pulse prop as a cage that big will take some heating.
Ive found a few supplier of java wood products and have loads here so i plan of providing lots of nice climbing pieces for him/her. Do you have any photos of yours Stuart. With regards to a pool of water do you think a pre formed pond would be suitable with a filter and bottom drain would be OK?
Thanks guys

The pond idea sounds great Tom..Believe it or not just been looking through some old pics trying to find some..I do have some but I have been backing up lots of my pics on to disc lately to free some space so pretty sure they are on there.. The girl I sold him too did put some pics up on another site ages ago so will have a search and see if I can find them.. _________________
