Is there anyone in here who keep this species of varanus, i am hoping to get one off an import from indonesia due in at the end of this month and would like more info on cage setup, i was thinking a 6ft x 2ft x 4ft cage with powersun and 250w ceramic to bump heat,

Do people have photos of there setups and ideas about care, i want to do as much reading up as possible before i embark on this little beauty.

Thanks

Tom

Sorry, don't keep this species, but if you are seriously planning on getting one - and I mean actually planning on getting one, you need to rethink the cage size. 6x2x4 is far too small.

Keep us updated though if you do get one.

I keep V. Salvadorii. I have an 8x6x6 cage, and still feel that is far to small. I am in the process of adding on an extension to that cage that is another 8-9 feet tall (haven't decided yet).. They are an aboreal species, and require a taller setup with plenty of climbing oppurtunites. High humidity is a must as well. Here are a couple pictures of my female.

Hugh are you saying that i should get a larger cage for the animal to grow up in the cage size i stated was only for a pair of CB06's, Do you think that keeping a pair of babies in the same cage is a viable option?

Are we looking at similar care to varanus salvator or different.

Beautiful monitor you have "shadow" what would you say a nice cage size is for an adult i was thinking a 12 x 6 shed kitted out with double door entry or even half a garage conversion.

Thanks

Tom

Depends on if i can keep two in the same setup, i suppose the same applies if its large enough i can and don't keep two males together. i believe there coming in from indo at the end of the month from a chap at millennium reptiles.

Oh my old friend Lee at Millenium, yes I know him well.

My personal take on salvadorii is they are not my cup of tea that's mainly because I prefer the look of other varanus i.e. Australian types or similar.

If you are seriously considering them then like shadow said they need a large amount of space in length, width and very important the height of their enclosure.

they are stunning animals but you need to take care when handling they can be ok one minute then take a chunk out of your arm the next like i found out. if they are coming from a indo shipment that i recently seen £300 sounds very cheap to me are they wc or cf

I believe they are Cf mate, i am slightly wary of this though as I've only ever had cf snakes. They are £270 a peice which i think is very reasonable indeed.

Would a 6ft tall vivarium be suitable for them then guys, i was thinking 12 x 8 x 6 for a pair of adults.
