My chameleon is starting to show signs of a sore lower lip. I think she rubbed it against the wire mesh and it might be infected or something. The lower lip hangs down a little and is a dark purple color. What could i put on there to heal her up? Sorry the pic quality is so low. I had to use my webcam instead of the digital camera cause the batteries are dead Razz
Thanks in advance,
Steve

Steve, you had the chameleon long? is it still feeding ok? Also is there a way you can prevent it rubbing on the mesh?

Yes I have had this chameleon about 6 months. She is a great eater besides the fact I haven't had any luck getting her to eat any veggies yet, just crickets and a few silkworms here and there. She managed to rub her chin raw on the screen mesh before I remodeled her enclosure. I added a ficus tree and more vines and such to climb on now so she is staying away from the screen a lot more now. I'm just worried because it looks like her chin is getting infected.

If she is not an adult yet this may well be why she is not eating veg / greens etc. They tend to eat these sort of foods more readily when they are adults. Pics didnt work again.

My apologies the pics did work they just took a while to come up. I know yemens dont tend to eat veg etc till adult. This may apply to your cham to.

The lip does look sore. Hard to see the swelling from the pics. Worth keeping an eye on it. If you can find a way to stop her rubbing her mouth on the mesh all the better.

if you think the wound is infected then you could apply a topical anti-biotic or a digestible form of anti-biotic. Not sure which may be best. Good luck.

he/she looks healthy...so this is not a problem...i dont know if you have BETADINE there in the uk?if you have..just rinse it with it...for acouple of days...it really looks like she/he has done it rubbing against the wire mesh,if i see oke there is still a little piece of epiderma hangin on...betadine should do the trick...and maybe a few more visual barriers so she/he wont rubb her nostrils against the mesh...i am sorry for my poor english...
regards
