To what age do female royals breed (approx) I am trying to decide between a HUGE LTC 5-9 Year old. Top snake feeding etc. Or a 03 CB which should be ready this winter. Any feedback welcome. Both snakes are spot on.

Alot of people go by the weight of a female..normally if the female is over 1500grams they are good size to breed.

Usually the females are mature enough by their third winter.... As far as weight goes... you could have a skinny 1500 gram female if she used to be 2kgs and lost weight through illness or layed eggs so you cant strictly go by weight alone.... Certainly use 1500gs as a minimum first time(virgin) breeding weight but from then on after you will have to judge if she is in good condition or not... A good way to do this is by looking at the last third of the body towards the tail, there should be no wrinkles of skin and not taper too sharply and you most definitely must not see any ribs or be able to feel them too easily. If you breed a female at 1500gs and she goes down to 1100gs after laying... next time you breed her she must be over 1600gs at least if not more to make sure she is healthy and has enough fat reserves to survive the process again... Of course there is more than one way to skin a cat and these are just a rough guide line that i use...

Good advice Ad..i was just stating a minimum weight (virgin) as you put it that is a fairly good guideline..I am no expert on royals and sure others like yourself will give a more in depth insight into breeding them. Cool

I wasn't getting at you Stu... i knew when you said 1500gs that you meant virgin weight, but his person/guy/gal mentioned the possibility of an LTC so i wanted to cover all angles Smile
