After getting good feedback on this site in regards to CF versus CB royals (CB won hands down)I am wondering what people think of the southcoast exotics royal event. GOTO below link to check out south coasts event.
http://www.southcoastexotics.com/
MY own opinion is IF there is enough royal blood in the country to sustain the demand, why import non feeding, possible diseased, most probably got mites and ticks hatchlings. THIS IS MY CURRENT OPINION AND IS OPEN TO BEING CHANGED?
DO WE NEED TO IMPORT 1000s of CF hatchling royals, hundreds of which will possible die.
thanks in advance MIKE |

Hi Mike,
I think the answer is Yes & No.
Yes for the fact that there are not enough CB female royals available for the breeders to work with and this offers a good chance to select some 'possible' (although doubtfull) new morphs. They are unlikely to have ticks due to being new hatched and hatched in a 'farm', so will be almost clean of those types of problems.
And NO for the Pet Trade to buy up cheap and sell to beginners who haven't the knowledge or experiance (or even patience) to work with CF animals. _________________

Someone local to myself who is a successful hobbyist, sometimes carefully
selects CF hatchlings. He makes sure they are bob on then sells them for a small profit to people he knows will care for them. He also keeps some himself. I had one off him which was really greedy and a great snake. He has some at the moment but will not let any that are not feeding well go.
Obviously there are many good people out there who are very successful with CF stuff.
More opinions folks!! |

I think it's a good idea.
These animals ARE coming into the Uk anyway, whether the sales are done in this way or drawn out through the wholesale chain.
This way the animals are given a better chance to be looked after. It is much easier for someone to maintain 100 royals than 1000. So by being sold off so quickly the care they receive will be more specific in a shorter timeframe.
On the new morph front, no chance. When people are actually flying out to these farms to handpick the NORMALS for themselves, nevermind the odd ones you can pretty much guarantee what is in that shipment will be a very basic royal.
The bottom line is these animals are coming in anyway (no matter how much the nieve would like to stop them) so it is better for the animal and the importer to get them to new homes rapidly - IMO.
On a side note, i have a new found respect for South Coast exotics. Anyone that has the balls (pun intended) to OPENLY do this is very brave. If you're reading this - fair play to you!! _________________ TFA

I recently had a phone conversation with respected herp man in this country. A few years ago he imported a few thousand Royals and made sure they were all feeding before selling the ones he wasn't keeping for himself. Surely this is the best way. IF THEY ARE BEING IMPORTED(carefully) AND ESTABLISHED BEFORE SOLD THEN I THINK ITS O.K. if threes a shortage of CBs.
from website
All Royal Pythons are sold as non-feeding, just hatched animals.
All animals are sold as seen and not sold as hets or possible hets.
When paying to be entered on our guest list you are purchasing selection time. Selection time is non transferable and non refundable I.D is required.
When selecting your purchases it is assumed that you are 100% happy with it, therefore no further guarantees apply.
I am not yet convinced its a good thing.
I agree there is very little chance of there being anything other than normals.(which are great in there own right) maybe 1 in a 1000, but how do you tell. My female has a yellow belly or is it the light?
CB followed by extreme care with CF is the way to go if not enough CB.
Is there anyone parting with £25 to view??
Have a look at the captive foraged thread, some good related stuff.
STILL OPEN TO HAVE MIND CHANGED. If honest would like to go armed with diemite and snake probe. |

Good point, I doubt they would let you probe or pop anything, I certainly wouldn't want to buy something that 'anybody' could of probed etc. _________________
