England is covered by the DWAA (dangerous wild animals act) this legislation requires you to have a license issued by your local 'government' and to have liability insurance. Each local authority has different requirements on what they are looking for before issuing a DWA license, some even refuse POINT BLANK (this is unlawful but most people don't challenge it), they are also free to charge whatever they wish for the license. This charge ranges from Ģ55 up to way over Ģ1000 per year!.

Insurance can also be expensive.

What about in Sweden?

Ahaa..

So, by the money that they request makes it "impossible"..
The license, is the money depending on number of animals, or just a yearly fee?

spot on! if you fight for a license they can make the fee just not worth it.

The fee is for the license, 1 or 100, the insurance is quite often per animal.

I'm lucky enough to have my home insurance policy cover my DWA liability too.

Ok..

The insurance then. Do they make you have it?

In Sweden there is some strange rules too about the permits. Some "local governments" have no problems with people keeping venomous animals, and in some it is frobidden to keep venomous animals.. And the fees are also differing from place to place. I have to pay 87GBP.. Inspection for me next week.. Iīm the first in my area to have applied to keep "hots"..

So, Iīm somewhat nervous..

I'm the same as you, the ONLY person in my area to legally keep venomous, no-one prior and no-one since.

I also have a visit from a Vet and the Fire Service Rolling Eyes

Nice to go the legal way, isnīt it..
I am expecting a visit from the City-vet. and from the "local government". No need for the Fire Service here.
But, I think that the person from the "local ..." have to report to the Fire Service and maybe to the nearest hospital.

Yeah.. Well.. I was hoping that he would have strong genes, but I was not sure..

Thanks..

No problems at all really.. Not if you have the right papers. The rules are not nationwide here, so the local rules may differ some. But where I live, itīs not a problem. Pay 1740 Sek, and have some people/veterinarian come to look at the facilities.
