i got my python a few days ago and as she was kept in a small plastic box (12X12X6ish) i did the same so it didn't stress her too much.
I have now divided her viv and made a space 12lX18wX18h and filled it with plants, a big hide etc. i have made it so there aren't any big empty spaces, so would it be ok to put her into this without her getting too stressed? she is 16" at the moment.
Thanks, Emma
ps. there is a few snapshots from a video i took of her yesterday below.. |

Hi Emma I might be wrong but I keep my Royal in a 3ftx2ftx2ft WLH and she does fine in fact i think she enjoys the space she is always climbing about and stuff and she is about the same size as yours. Try her in there as long as she has plenty of "safe" places to go if she feels threatened then she should be ok.
By the way she looks gorgeous on your pics! |

see everybody preaches this don't put them in bigger Viv's as you'll just freak them out real bad but I'm the same as Andy i keep my royals in 3ftx2ftx2ft and my male is happy as Larry now and has started eating well so i think the Viv will be sound as long as there packed out with hides etc she will get used to it IMO _________________ boas and burms |

No offence Mark but are yours feeding?..If IIRC they aren't very good feeders..Myself personally would not keep a feeding royal of that size let alone a non feeder,in a 3x2x2..not saying it wont work but they do stress easily and large viv may look great to you but to your "baby" snake could be rather daunting.. _________________

The above post is by far the safest bet especially if the animal has not fed since you have had her. Once she is feeding rregularly and has grown then I would give her a bit more space. _________________ YSBRYDOLI POBL, GWELLA LLEOEDD

Emma,
I would make sure she has a feed or two in the small tub method, then if you want to try her in the larger viv go right ahead. I think you'll find the common reference to 'tight secure hides' in everyones posts, so just bear that in mind with the viv set up. If you snake doesn't feed after a few weeks in there, then swap back to the smaller tub method.
If you do move the snake into the larger viv, also don't handle or disturb it until it's feeding fine.
good luck. _________________
