When I was a teenager I cultivated some Bob Marley plants .
(I must add I am very sensible now and a model citizen . I placed the female plants on the window cill in the dinning room to get the maximum amount of sun as it faced south.
I had told my ma and step dad that it was a school project and I was growing some ginseng!
Anyway I had been out one evening and upon my return my ma, step dad and two of their friends were sitting round the dinning room table having a meal. The friends; one was a mate of my step dads the other his mates wife. The bloke was high up in the CID! They may have told me they were having friends round, I can't remember, you know what it's like never take any notice of the oldies when your a teenager.
This CID guy said hi to me, he then said they are very interesting plants Richard. I was mortified! He asked what they were, whilst grinning at me! I told him that they were ginseng for a school project, he showed a deep interest and made me speak to him about them for what seemed like forever! Swine. He knew what they bloody were! But give him his due he never gave the game away.
Well the next day I was as paranoid as paranoid can be. So I disposed of the Bob Marley in the best possible way with a few friends. Sensimilea was no more!
I skulked around for the next few weeks being a really good teenager and being very helpful around the home, I was hedging my bets in case he sent the DS round!

Seeing as you have brought it up i just have to tell you about my experience with the bob marley plant...
I don't see the fuss in this stuff, but if anyone wants to indulge far be it from me to judge..
Well when i first met my hubby he used to indulge on the occassional evening.. Then soon after we brought our first house we were burgled and i felt i could no longer live there, so we arranged for an estate agent to call.. "meanwhile".....
Not being to flush at the time we had to watch the pennies a little, so i decided to try and impress him with my first ever own grown plant. It was wonderfull. I had never been able to grow anything before but this bob marley took off in leaps and bounds.. It was lovely and sunny outside so i moved it for maximum benefit to my sunny enclosed back garden. I clipped it and watered it daily and soon it was 5 foot tall and resembling a 1st class bush.. I think with the burglary i focused my attentions on my bob...
Then along came the estate agent, who asked lots of questions and measured up then went away with a smile on her face whilst rubbing her hands together.. 1 week later we recieved an envelope from them. it contained an agreement and dates our house will be advertised in the local paper. It also contained a sheet which they give / send out to pottential buyers. It had all the dimensions of our house including a pic of the lounge, kitchen, main bedroom and 1 of the outside back garden.. I could have died, there in all it's glory was my bob marley. Looked like it was posing away like a good en..
My hubby visciously yanked bob out of is soil and hung him upside down in the shed to dry.. I was heart broken.. We then had to go and explain to the estate agents who had put that same photo in there window for everyone to see. They had also put it in the paper and it was to late to retract it..
We took the house off the market soon after and we still here.. I just can't bare the thought of no more agents coming round.. |

Great stories!
I had a wee bob plant years ago which was given to me by a guy I was seeing at the time who was an agricultural student. I tended it lovingly for ages, until I realised my cat had been using the pot as a toilet and spraying the plant with urine.
I had to throw it out! _________________
