How often have you/ are you offering Chris?
My top tip on feeding
Once upon a time, i used to simply defrost at room temp then heat up using hot water, hair drier etc and found that i was still having my BP turn its nose up and I found this was a pain in the backside too.
Now, i get those freezer bags from Sainsbury's (every little helps ) and defrost the rat in that, so it stays dry. I can guarantee that it will be heated all the way through by the time it's defrosted. For some strange reason, this never fails for me. I even do it for the Boas, which never refuse anyway.
I sure that you won't have done so, but if you have been trying more than once a week, i would say leave the snake completely alone for 2 weeks and then have a go with a slightly smaller than normal rat.
Incidentally, in case I missed it, how long has it been without food?

I would definately leave them all for a couple of weeks without handling or even trying to feed them. After that i'd give it another go.
I wouldn't offer anything that refuses food anything else within a week.
2 weeks is nothing. Sometimes, i'll leave mine for 2 weeks anyway, just to keep a good feeding response.
2 months is nothing either (weight depending) but I would keep an eye on their weight.
Good luck. _________________ "When i'm a big boy I wanna avatar like Johonny. lmao and rofl" |

there 07 400-500gr aprox
Quote: | It puzzles me Chris, sounds like everything you're doing is right but just strange that it's not working. The only thing is humidity, what's the room like and inside the tubs? |
there kept in a rack in the bedroom, and have large water bowels,
ill rasie the humidity too see if that helps,
i just tried wiggling lastnight offerings, warm up in hot water and wrigged to look like it alive and moving, both showed an interest but then buggered of back to there hides, |
as long as they're not losing dramatic weight don't worry too much, i've got 1 that hasn't been eating since 10 january, so a good 6 months now, she doesn't seem to be interested and i don't even try every week anymore. but the part about you wriggling last nights offering after heating it up, i really don't understand! not being funny or anything but if you had a mouse or rat in the tub from last night, it has been happily rotting the whole night and then you reheat it en try again. i'm sure that i wouldn't wanna eat something that has been left on my plate overnight and reheated again. try to defrost them inside a lastic bag so they're not soaking wet coz royals are so picky!! _________________ 1.1 Hypo Salmon Boa (Gee Line)

maybe they would in the wild, but we are talking abut your royal that isn't eating. the fact that it isn't smelling to you does not mean that it hasn't been rotting. i've just given my opinion on the matter. but again, maybe you can try and defrost them inside a plastic bag like some others have been saying so the prey isn't wet. i'm so glad that i can get live prey really easy, so i don't have that problem _________________ 1.1 Hypo Salmon Boa (Gee Line)

hope it'll work out and you get them eating. i never realised that it was difficult to get live prey in the uk. here amsterdam i can pick from 4 different shops that sell rat's n mice for food, so i can be picky aboutit as well. is it not possible for you to breed your own rats?? it's not that dificult and you'll be sure of having live prey _________________ 1.1 Hypo Salmon Boa (Gee Line)
