I did think about it but im goin to leave her till next year, id just worry that she is too young.
My male is in with a female the now, ive not seen any action yet I think he's more than up for the job though The females laid 2 clutched already without being in with a male so my fingers are crossed. |

PaulG - 35 grams and 18 months old is the 'target' weight and age for breeding Cresteds in my opinion. With Gargoyles I usually wait until they weigh around 40 grams (again age 18 months).
Blu - personally I would wait until next year before introducing a male, as it will give the female more time to mature. _________________ Best wishes, Jackie

As most people will know I don't really follow any 'min age / weight' for breeding cresteds, I grow them up in groups and when they are ready they will breed. If they are too small they don't breed or perhaps lay an infertile clutch.
So long as they are well fed and have good calcium reserves AND somewhere to lay (well before they actually need to) they will be fine.
I've not ever had a crestie egg bound or any females die young from breeding.
If you are worried about mother nature deciding when they are ready to breed then seperating them and waiting until they hit ages / weights above certainly won't do any harm. _________________
