Ah, I see! Rolling Eyes I wasn't sure! The substrate, particularly in his hidebox where he burrows, is sprayed daily, but he also has a dry area so that he can choose where he wants to hang out.

The photo is slightly deceptive, there is a gap behind the shelf as it is not tight to the wall and he was actually mid way to the next tier.

I can honestly say he is actually more relaxed in his new bigger viv than he was in his old smaller viv.

lol93 what brand of bark chips are you using, are they from a garden center? just wondering I've got 18x4 area to cover, still not sure what I'm going to use.

Looks great guys, as for maintaining humidity you could simply put a piece of perspex over the wire mesh if you are having a particular problem with it, it would work a treat. Can't wait to see pictures when it's all finished Cool

i used that stuff from a garden center.. and after a while i started to see a lot of small flys... there eggs seem to be in the bark and the heat frm the tank triggers them to hatch... just watch out for them

The bark is from a garden centre, but I cook it in the oven for a while to kill off any nasties.

iriechris-We looked into a garden pond/filter setup, but having spoken to people on an American monitor forum who had tried this, decided it wasn't going to work. Apparently the volume of waste your average monitor produces is too much for a filter to cope with. Until we have a better idea, we're going with a larger tub which we can empty and refill daily.
