Thanks VaranusCam, from what i can remember a couple of females & the male was rotated around them ( i was watching telly at the same time), but i think they use 10 foot Circle vivs. The Americans seem to be way a head of us on monitor husbandry issues as long as you don't get into the UV question.

I really dont see how retics have anything to do with the size of anyones monitor terrarium, they are different animals and behave different, but that argument was expected since you two have already mentioned everything from hard to maintain to stress, which are all BS arguments. whats next? maybe they dont need as much light or food, or heat, i mean 17ft retics doesnt feed that often.
i know that people keep retics in very small rack systems and i do think thats "diabolical", that is however not what this thread is about, its about monitor lizards.
increasing the life quality for our captives should be something that is of interest to all keepers and terrarium size should be one important aspect of that! |

what does one single mS that this photo represent really prove?they are obviously alive and kicking but that doesnt mean that they wouldnt be happier with some improvements, such as a bigger terrarium or at least more height.

that part about ur name was a joke... and yes i agree with u that they need more height thats why iv changed there vivs to more arboreal ones.. and yes housing size is a big factor to keeping monitors health but when people say that 8x4x4 is minimal for a single sav or say 6x3x3 for a ackie is minimal than im sory but its not minimal when ppl have housed bred and kept monitors in smaller vivs perfectly then i think ur dimensions for minimal are wrong patrik
thanks Mark F, hopefully he along with my female are gunna give me some eggs _________________ Word ta big bird!! |
