does anyone have any experience breeding green tree pythons? I've kept them for a few years now and just got an active breeding pair. they have been mating on and off for a couple of weeks but I'm guessing nothing will come of it but has anyone had any luck first time at this.
thanks

I've bred chondros twice now. A clutch last year that hatched out mid-May 07, and I have a clutch in the incubator at the moment that are due to hatch on the 29th May.

I only started keeping chondros in 2006 so I had breeding success in my first full season. I'm no expert but if you have any questions I'll do my best to answer them.

cheers

Stuart

Nice looking pair. I especially like the one furthest away from camera on the top perch.

What info do you have on them?

cheers

Have they both been cycled (cooled) for a period before being put together? I cycle my chondros for about 4-6 weeks before introducing them to each other. I do know of fertile clutches that have resulted from non-cycled pairings but I think its relatively unusual.

Good luck!

Ive got eggs in the incubator at the moment (due in three weeks with any luck). Im no expert but I would have said that cooling is more important for the male to ensure good fertility; I have read about many breeders who never cycle their animals before pairing them up. Like Stuart, I cycle mine for 4-6 weeks before pairing them up and then continue to drop the night time temps until I see that the pair have stopped mating on a regular basis.

Good luck!!
