|
|
Another of my inane questions Has anyone been brilliant enough to write down the weight of food given, plus the weight of snake over the same time ? If so, please share 'cos I would be really interested to know how much of the food goes into weight gain.
Obviously it will have to be over a period of several months. Will start to weigh food items myself as knowing the ratio would help in working out how much a Royal need to eat to get up to size for the next Season. Don't worry - I am not into force feeding my snakes

I have never weighed food items but to be honest I think for neonates at least its a pretty high ratio. Cant say exatly but I would say that about 60-70% of the food item gets put on as weight. |

well. the best i can do is...
4 hatchlings from 23rd of August and the smallest is 380g, and largest is about 500g i've been feeding them rat fluffs from birth, and then onto small weaners for a while, and now they eat largish weaners.
I had one 380g male (i'm saying this because i know he was at the time - not just a coincidence) eat a 60g multi and a 25g weaner thats surplus for you _________________ Who like's art?

Thanks to everyone for their comments. What I am after, and am now going to do myself with one of the Royals, is a chart like this :-
DATE ............ RAT SIZE ....... WEIGHT OF SNAKE
1/00/08 ................... 40gr ........................... ??
7/00/08 ........ 40gr ...... --
14/00/08 ............ 45gr ....................... --
21/00/08 ........ 47gr ...... --
28/00/08 ........... 50gr ............ ??
etc., etc., etc.,
After a few months a pattern will emerge showing amount of food needed to get x amount of weight gain. Just an interesting little exercise, will let you know the results if peeps would be interested. WAS hoping that some dear person had already done it for me... 'cos I am lazy |
