I am interested to find out what percentage of Spider Royals have the 'wobble'. My one does a bit - not like DTs, he just sort of waves his head and neck when stretching up. Is it known to have long term bad effects, or should I just call the dear boy 'Noddy' and stop worrying ? He is growing well and seems very healthy apart from the slight waving head.
He is now 7 / 8 months and about 450+ grams.

Any comments would be helpful. You will not have to say if your Spiders have the wobble, but I really would like to stop worrying about the lad. Please do fill in the poll. Thanks,

Mine seems to wave his head and get into wierd positions rather than 'wobble'

i think it is quite normal, as most i have seen do this.

As for long term efects, i dont know of any but would like to know myself

I voted no because I have never seen a wobble as such. If I scrutinised closely I could perhaps say he is VERY slightly 'wavery' when his neck is fully stretched out on occasion. Like a youngster is really. And to be honest I have seen some of my normals a bit 'unsteady' when climbing! My Spidey is 11 months old, handles really well, eats like food is going out of fashion ( my best royal feeder in fact) and weighs 755g

None of us can know about long term side effects because the spider morph (and all the others for that matter) has only been around for a few years. When you consider that royals can live for 40 years its pretty clear that we don't yet have any morph specimens reaching anything like moderate to old age, so who knows what kind of problems we may encounter over the next 20-30 years with morph animals that are not common is older normal specimens.

im with mine i would say 90% of the time. ghana doesnt wobble, although i have seen one who was so bad, well i could have cried for it.

Kevin first produced them in 1999, and as far as i'm aware, there are no problems this far with them.

It is believed from 8ballpythons and ralph davis, that every spider possesses it and to the untrained eye, people often believe their spiders don't.

i can catagorically say, and pete will back me up, mine doesnt. now he may have the wobble gene, but it just may not manifest itself. what i do see is, a royal who is much more 'agile' for want of a better word, than any of my others. and he can move for scotland. ghana came from cpr, i dont know what darrens thoughts on this would be, if any of the ones he kept 'wobble'.
as i did say i saw one who was so bad i dont know how this animal could have any qaulity of life, and the guy was breeding from it!!!!
