Beths school had a teachers training day yesterday so we made the best of the weather and went out to Blaise castle estate, near Bristol. This is a huge estate with a deep gorge, rhodadendron walk, castle on a hill, wierd old cottage, a stream with lots of bridges and mini (very mini) waterfalls, woods for miles, also lots of open space and kids adventure playgrounds.
Heres a few of the pics I took

First the castle, a very small one but quite pretty too. These I processed as HDRs, hence the dramatic toning, contrast and colours. I'm still getting to grips with this software, but I like the effects you can get especially when you desaturate a little.

This is an old cottage we discovered within the estate

A few of the wildlife

I found the squirrels hard to capture with such bright skies behind or above them, resulting blue edges to the trees etc, not sure how to avoid this

Not sure what this bird is but it wouldn't stay still and was really hard to get against the harsh glare of the water and the shadows in the more covered over areas.

welcome to the world of CA or chromatic abberation..occurs on strongly backlit subjects and is worse on some lenses than others..
