Is it ok to keep leos/AFTs in Large contico boxes (they are 52x35x15cm), because i have seen that a few people do, and i always thought they should be kept in a vivarium?

Some people even keep pairs in these. What is your opinion on this?

Also do you think they need UV?

I just think boxes spoil part of the pleasure of having the animals. Mines is in a viv, with fake rock wall, and a few hides, often of a night when I go in he come up to the glass to see me.
I quite like sitting in the room watchin him hunt.
Then again, as I keep pretty much all my animals- darts, leos etc in natural tanks, would spoil the room to then have RUB's!

I agree Chris...but I don't think they are totally unsuitable...just not my personal choice. I think they are best suited to use for temporary accomodation and quarantine tubs...which is 'REALLY USEFUL' Very Happy

ok, well i was thinking of getting some, or more likely some african fat tails, but i have a spare large contico which i was wanting to use, but i shall probably just buy a viv.

its just i am not allowed any more snakes apparently (but i have been told that the last 5 times i brought a snake) howver my mum says there is a possibility i could have more lizards, howver i think i may not go for leos, and choose something less commonly kept such as AFTs or Underwoodisaurus milii.

thanks for all your help everyone. i shall jst have to think of something else to put in that box.....hmmmm.......hognoses, that sounds like a plan Smile
