|

Hi all. Another crestie owner on another forum I'm on has 2 cresties that have been together since very young. She thought they were both female but after checking for pre anal pores she thinks they may be both males. IF they are both mails will they be OK together when mature adults?? They are fine with each other now and have been since she has had them.
I thought id ask on here as you guys have more experience with them then i have. Thanks. Paul |

i don't have my geckos yet but i should imagine that this case is the same as male tortoises.
please don't take this as gospel i'm just trying to add another angle, but i'm sure geckos would be similar.
male tortoises will fight over a female but if no females are present, they might be ok.
if you have enough visual cover in an enclosure, just so they don't bump into each other all the time, they could be ok.
the other thing is some fight, .. some don't..
obviously if they do.. they need to be seperated asap.
i hope that i'm close to the correct answer.

i have had several males housed together for ages now and there have been no probs what so ever, i think if they have been housed together since they where small and there are no females in the viv it should be fine, at least mine are, _________________ strength & honour |

Yeh i was wondering this becus ive just recently got 2 nearly adlut males and not sure if they have been kept together since babies. Although they do look related by the very similar colour and stripe accross their heads.
I have read in books that only one male per cage _________________ Dante (rankins dragon)

Some males can be housed together because in general cresties are less agressive than a lot of other lizards. However be warned that not all males get on, especially if they have just been introduced and if they do fight you will need the space to seperate them asap.
Loads of cresties have similar patterns and 90% of them have the stripe across the head so that in no way means they are related or have been brought up together _________________

word of warning.....
i had two living together since i had them from a few weeks old.... i had no problems and they have never seen a female or been in the same vacinity as one, i opened the viv one day and they had had a major fight in the night, one was pretty badly busted up, hes fine now and healed well....
basically keep an eye on them..... _________________ "With all this stress, i must confess this could be worse than PMS!" |
