Got this male emerald tree boa 2 weeks ago today
noticed it had RI (have not paid for the snake )you can see the eatra saliva in its mouth later that night it started weazing we took it to the vets the next day it was weighed at 680grams they said it was a good weight an given a course of Amikin 0.05ml every 3 days by injection 4 days later its totally stoped weazing and 6 days stoped with the extra saliva , we are still giving it the injections every 3 days for another 3 weeks just to make sure its all clear before we try and feed him , has any body had snakes recover from RI mainly emerlad tree boas , i am keeping the temps at the high end 84 hot end slightly warmer under the basking spot , 80 cool end , humidaty 70 night , between 80-90 during the day , 12 hours uv light |

great looking snakes, unfortunately i can not offer any informative advice on snakes with RI but from what i have read if caught early on and treated correctly they can make a full recovery. from what you have said it sounds like your doing a good job. keep us posted on how he gets on. |

Can't help on RI in emeralds but best of luck.
Has he got a funny shaped head? seems to be curved downward almost like a beak? _________________

caninus translates as "from the dog" and emeralds are also known as "Dog Boas" or "Dog Head Boas" according to Kivit and Wiseman in their book "The Green Tree Python and Emerald Tree Boa".
That curved head shape that some northern emeralds have really reminds me of the English Bull Terrier;

Emeralds usually have 2 large fat deposits on top of their head, which makes the head look huge and bulky. The snake in the pic does not have these, so makes the head look funny.
Is the snake WC? I would keep daytime temps at 32 and nighttime temps at 31 and keep this constant until the RI clears up.
Humidity should be kept very high. |
