Anyone keeping or breeding these? I'd be interested in any information on them, care requirements, breeding info, availability etc. Just mulling a few things over and need to gather info. If anyone can point me to reliable info on this specific species I'd be grateful Very Happy

Hi, I've got a male black blood, he's so tame he's stupid even though he is very hissy. I know they're very hard to find now, well females are anyway. I know where there are two more adult males. I haven't seen any females or even hatching's for sale in the two years I've been looking.

The male I have is about 6-7 foot,he weighed in at 3.5 stone but that was a while ago. He likes to spend most of its time soaking in a large tub. The temps are about 90 at the hot end and 83 at the cool end. I've got him in a 4x2x2 specially made glass viv, he broke two 4x2x2 contiboard type Viv's in the first 12 months.

Even though they're a big snake they have quite small clutches, I think they only average about ten eggs.

Bloods are stunning snakes and I used to keep a fair few..the blacks I had were remarkably tame and awesome feeders!..not the most active snakes they used to spend most their time in their moist hides, usually a converted contico full of damp shagnum moss..

Thanks Stuart, I have to say the more I see the more I like them, the OH is not convinced, he likes the royals as they are apparently 'a nice size' and the thought of something with the girth of a burn with an approximate length of a royal isn't appealing to him, but I'm sure I'll get him convinced Laughing
